haha your completed list makes mine look sad! The whole wedding planning thing really overwhelms me at times though. We had ceremony, reception, hotel and shuttle, DJ, photographer, save the dates mailed, bridesmaids shoes and dresses sort of done, LOL. And well the shower is booked etc but I have no control over that my mom and sister do since they are doing it. Phew my head is still spinning…
ReplyDeleteWe did a lot of DIY stuff on our wedding, we were on a budget aswell. But weddings here are a bit diff anyway, we dont really do the rehearsel dinners and engagement parties and such. Not everyone anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnd we just wanted to have a great party with our closest friends and family. We had the venue for the whole day, which was perfect, because my family had to drive for 2,5 hours to get there.
I made sids jacket and cravat and gilet and my own bolero. I made my bouquet aswell, and we also made our own invitations, we did all of the weddingfavours, the decoration, and even shopped all of the food ourselves(which was all made ready by my mother inlaw and sisterinlaw)
We just asked a lot of collegues and friends to help out and save money. Photographers, the videos, the cake, the food, the car. all done by friends and collegues.
I gave our best men and women Lush gifts, saved money with my personell discount.
Just look at the things you want to be done and then think of all the people you know and who might be able to do it for nothing or a lot les then professionals.
Thanks Jasmine that's great advice!
ReplyDeleteBridesmaids gifts are great if they're personal I think. I'm thinking of something along the photoframe, photoalbum/scrapbook kind of lines.
ReplyDeleteThere are websites in the UK (and so I'm sure similar ones in the States) where you can create a photobook. We made one for my sisters 18th and she loved it, and I also did one of my American adventure.
The one I used was truprint.co.uk
I LOVE the ties - they're awesome!
