My mom and I went to my last venue appointment yesterday and I was very disappointed in the place. It has great reviews in the NJ area, but when I went I was really just disappointed. So now it is between Mayfair Farms in West Orange and The Manor in West Orange. This has been the most stressful choice I have ever had to make. I am trying to make two more last appointments with these people and hopefully a food tasting. I think it will help us make our decision. Weddings in NJ are ridiculous and people spend so much money on these friggen venues. I really don't get it. Honestly if it were up to me I would just get married at the courthouse and have a huge party afterward, but if I am going to get married then I have to do it the right way.
We also met with our first photographer. That was fun because this is the most important for the both of us. The venue is one day, the cake will be eaten, the food will all be gone, but at the end of the night the pictures and video is what lasts. Anyway it was fun and now I know what to ask other photographers.
My ex used to work for a company that did photos and video. So I thought it would be a good idea to call the owner. Well I am happy I did because he remembers who I am and wants to sit down and talk with me and Greg. Hopefully he can give us a great deal. The first photographer we went to quoted us 4k for video and photo...which is really good for around here!
So that's my update for now.
I am so glad that we didn't have video at our wedding/reception! My dad ended up getting into it with a member of the catering staff, so having that caught on video would have been awful! lol
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your choice! I personally love the Manor
o_O 4000? *shock, cardiac arrest, die*
ReplyDeleteJeez... Am I ever glad we had my sister use the SRL and be our photographer. Seriously, I had no idea it cost that much, we just knew from the start we'd never find someone to take pictures on x-mas eve.
But you are so right, the pictures are the most treasured thing! if I may advise you, your guests are most likely to bring their own digital cameras. Appoint someone to catch them as they leave, and using a multi-card hub copy the guests pictures to a laptop. As much as I love the stylish pictures my sister took (she's a very good photographer by the way) I love all the crooked and not perfectly centered pictures of just about everything that the relatives took.
