In the past couple of weeks I have read several interesting books that I would like to share and if you get stumped one day and don't know what to read then you can certainly try one of these.....
I had this book sitting in my bookcase for a while and always put it off because I had something "better" to read. It was actually my boss that had said something about it and I was like "oh I have that, I should read it". So I took it off my bookshelf finally and opened the first page and started reading it. In all the years that I have been reading, after the hundreds of books I have read and felt something with... this book tops it all. I am not going to give anything away because I truly want everyone to feel the what I felt when I was reading it. The book is called Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay
The story is about a woman who is writing an article about the Holocaust in France during the 1940's. She is asked to write an article about the 60th anniversary of the roundup of Jews that lived in France during this time. The book switches from the present to 1940's to a little girl named Sarah who is a young Jewish girl who gets taken out of her home during the roundup with her family.
While I am not going to say anymore about the plot, I must say it was the most difficult and hard to read books I have ever read in my life. Not so much the language but the content. After reading this story I seriously just shook my head and said I had to go to bed. I just couldn't believe what I read.
They are also making a movie out of it... here is the trailer

The next book that was really good was Lara Adrian's Kiss of Midnight. This is book 1 of the Midnight Breed series. Once again... this series has been sitting on my bookshelf for a very long time. I just all of a sudden wanted to get back into the Vampire smut world.
I really enjoyed the first book out of this series. It reminded me a lot of the "Dark Hunter Series". I needed a "light" read after reading Sarah's Key. Good storyline, good character development, sexy scenes... just a good book. I am just starting the 2nd book in the series Kiss of Crimson.
The last two books that I thought were incredible are from Kristin Hannah. I can not say enough about her as a writer. Her books are so detailed and are filled with so emotions that I literally sit here and cry reading her books. The first book I read from her was "Night Road"
This was such a good book!!! I couldn't put it down. Took me about a day and a half to read it. My co-worker let me borrow it and I am so thankful that she did because it introduced me to Kristin Hannah's work. And the second book I read from her was "Winter Garden"
Another amazing story! I shook my head and couldn't believe what I just read again when I read this book. So incredibly descriptive. With Hannah's books you can feel what the characters are feeling. I cry when they cried, I laughed when they did. I loved both of these books!!!
That is all for now! Hopefully you can read one or two or all of these because they are really amazing books!

OMG! Sarah's Key is AMAZING and the story doesn't let you go for a LONG time! It took me awhile to get over this book. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI just added Sarah's Key to my "to read" list. Sounds really good! Although it sounds like I will cry when I read it. And the Midnight Breed series is absolutely amazing. I love Kristin Hannah too. Winter Garden was amazing. Haven't read Night Road yet but I'm excited too!
