Day 1- About Me

About me:
My name is Lyndsay but everyone likes to call me Lily. I actually got that nickname a long time ago. Many of my family members called me Lily and it stuck. I am 25 years old and my birthday is July 27th.
I have multicolored hair (lol.. mostly brown but there is some red, blonde, and black in there) I have hazel eyes that are blind as a bat so I wear contacts and glasses. I am really short 5'1 and I am technically "overweight" I weigh 125 lbs.
I have been a college student since 2003 but finally graduating in 2 weeks. I am receiving my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. I hope to get a teaching job some time in the near future.
I live with my Fiance, Greg. We have been dating for 5 years and 3 months. We are getting married next October!!  We recently moved into a small 1 bedroom apartment, which is like a mansion to us. We did live in my family's basement for three years. We also just adopted 2 little kitties... Lily and Sophie and I love them very much.
I love being at home. I am very much a homebody and really don't like going out. I love to read as many books as I can and I love movies and television.
I like doing certain things like being on the web, shopping, and hanging out with my friends.
I am a very emotional person and I can cry about anything. I have a lot of issues but that will be saved for another post. LOL.
I really love my life and who I am.

PS.. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Dum.. Dum.. Dum... DUmmmm

So technically according to our lease, we are NOT allowed to have any pets. Sooo of course today they just put a sign on everyone's door stating that there will be a state inspection of our apartments! WTF!!! So now I have to take a day off from Student Teaching, pack up all the kitty stuff, put most of it in my car the night before. Then tuesday morning pack up the babies and go to grandma's house!!! Like seriously, I hate this policy... I think it's crap.

So great. On the other hand.. Thanksgiving is tomorrow!!! Yay I love Thanksgiving! We are traveling to Long Branch, NJ to see my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I am making an applecrisp and corn bread tonight to bring tomorrow. I love Thanksgiving... especially with my family. I love doing Thanksgiving with Greg's family too, but it isn't as fun as my family.

(ewww kitty fart) smells sooo bad! ahhh!!

Last night was sooo funny. Lily went to the litter box and went poopies, but it didn't come out all the way and she left the litter box before it fell. Well we had to pick up three turds on the living room floor. I wouldn't mind if it didn't smell so bad. They have badddd kitty poops lol. I know gross but we thought it was really funny!!

Wish us luck on Tuesday!!!

Oh boy... I slacked!

Yup I slacked!! I haven't posted since August. I feel like my life has been a whirlwind of things!
Update:!!!

So since August, Greg and I moved into our new apartment. We love this place soo much! It is great to be on our own.
I picked out my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses!
These are the bridesmaids dresses. The color is Lapis
This is my dress. It's all lace.. It is a Gallina dress from David's Bridal

This isn't the most flattering picture of me, but this is the dress and my veil. My mom is standing in the back crying haha! I do need to loose a few more pounds before I walk down the aisle. It was the second dress I tried on!
We also booked the venue... here it is... http://www.thetides.com/

It's awesome and the food is fantastic!!!

We also adopted two kitties! We got them last Friday and we have been soooo happy ever since!!!  They are 3 months old and very playful. Their names are Sophie and Lily <3 sooo cute!

this is what happened when I left the bathroom door opened

This is Sophie! She is the smaller one. She is def. a mamma and daddy's girl. She likes to snuggle!

This is Lily <3 she is very playful and doesn't like to be held very much. But she takes very good care of her sister.

That is my update for now. I will try to update more since I will be graduating school in 2 weeks!!! WOOT!

Leaving...

One of the very first memories of my house is coming home with my mom from the supermarket and I stood in the kitchen and watched her put all the food away. She has a picture of me, standing there, holding a small secret. After she put all the food away, I told her that I pooped haha. I was still in diapers. It's gross, but it was the first memory that I can vividly remember about living in my house.
Now twenty something years later, I am packing up all those memories, putting them in a box and saying goodbye to the only place I have ever felt comfortable. I know every scrap on the wall, all the holes in the doors and all the cracks in the windows of this place. It's not the prettiest place or the best kept but it has been my home for 25 years.
I am  not gone yet, but the fact that my living is now emptied and all my belongings are in a box waiting to go to it's new home makes me very sad and emotional. I have always been a "home body" and coming home to Hamilton Avenue is what I have always known and even though there have been so many "bad" memories here, doesn't stop me from being so sad to leave it.
Now I get to go on my own, with my fiance, and build our own home together. I am excited and very nervous, but I will never ever forget the memories from Hamilton Avenue; all the crazy good times, and all the sad times. I will never forget the noodle fight me and my brother had or the morning's of Christmas and seeing all the presents around our Christmas tree that has now been thrown out. I will never forget pushing the two couches together to make a fort to crawl under. I will never forget sleeping in the hallway to the sounds of the "Honeymooner's". I will never forget my mom cleaning this house every weekend for as long as we have been here.
People say houses are just "4 walls", but to me it's a safe place; a place that I knew I could go to if something happened to me. So this is my goodbye to the place I grew up in, to the place that has made me who I am today, to the place that made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I say goodbye, but I hope to leave you in the hands of a new family that can make amazing memories here and wake up on Christmas morning to seeing the presents all over.

2 venues to choose from

My mom and I went to my last venue appointment yesterday and I was very disappointed in the place. It has great reviews in the NJ area, but when I went I was really just disappointed. So now it is between Mayfair Farms in West Orange and The Manor in West Orange. This has been the most stressful choice I have ever had to make. I am trying to make two more last appointments with these people and hopefully a food tasting. I think it will help us make our decision. Weddings in NJ are ridiculous and people spend so much money on these friggen venues. I really don't get it. Honestly if it were up to me I would just get married at the courthouse and have a huge party afterward, but if I am going to get married then I have to do it the right way.

We also met with our first photographer. That was fun because this is the most important for the both of us. The venue is one day, the cake will be eaten, the food will all be gone, but at the end of the night the pictures and video is what lasts. Anyway it was fun and now I know what to ask other photographers.

My ex used to work for a company that did photos and video. So I thought it would be a good idea to call the owner. Well I am happy I did because he remembers who I am and wants to sit down and talk with me and Greg. Hopefully he can give us a great deal. The first photographer we went to quoted us 4k for video and photo...which is really good for around here!

So that's my update for now.

Wedding Venue Reviews

So Thursday I went to two more wedding venues to check them out and see what they had to offer.

The first place I went to was called Highlawn Pavilion. http://www.highlawn.com/
While it had a gorgeous view of NYC the room for the reception was just not happening. It was really small and instead of the tables being around the dance floor they were on the sides of the bride and groom's table. I didn't like this at all because the farther tables would not be able to see the dance floor. The guy I met with was nice but the whole set up of the room was just not working for me. Plus, the restaurant downstairs is open during the week for business and I didn't like the fact that there would be people eating food while I was having my wedding. Just weird..

Then I went to Mayfair Farms which I loved! http://www.mayfairfarms.com/
I met with Tony and he was really nice. At first when I walked in the receptionist (who was a brat) didn't understand why I was there because the person I was suppose to meet up with wasn't working. Because that is my problem that you scheduled me on that day. But whatever I quickly got over it. The grounds were beautiful and I liked the reception room. The only thing that I didn't like was the green paint. The room is called Wellington on the website. The thing that really got me was the menu. The menu was sooo extensive and everything was included which was amazing. They included Filet Mignon which at a lot of other places is extra, also a Viennese table was included which is ALWAYS extra at other places. I was very happy. Tony was really nice and offered me and one of my BM's wine and champagne.

So basically what I am trying to say is that it is between three places right now. The Manor in West Orange, Bretton Woods in Morris Plains, and Mayfair Farms in West Orange. Mayfair Farms offers a free food tasting but I don't know about the other two places. I emailed The Manor to see if they would do a free tasting and I have to email Bretton Woods. There are so many different things that I like about each of them. Ugh! Not fun!

In other news, I have to move out of my house in the next couple months. My mom is putting the house up for sale and so I am going to have to start looking for a place! UGH! Kill me.. because I don't have enough on my plate to deal with. I still have one more semester of school, work, planning a wedding and now trying to find a place to live with basically no money. Hopefully everything will work out.
